A healthy oral health produces a healthy smile. But the problem is behind all of these, there is a cycle of events that destroys and wreak havoc on your healthy oral health causing cavities to form. A cavity is a hole that can grow bigger and deeper over time. But for a cavity to form, it needs to meet some conditions. Carbohydrates, also known as sugars, are necessary for our body, but with the interaction of a decay-causing bacteria, it produces acid. Then the acid slowly dissolves in the tooth enamel, but with continual interaction with the teeth. As it continues to dissolve, then the conditions are met, cavities formed.
For cavities to be present, all of the three conditions mentioned above are required. For us to prevent and intervene its growth, you should first the bacteria in your mouth as a result of good oral hygiene. Second, you should change the food you eat. Dietary changes may help you achieve on reducing carbohydrates you intake. And lastly, through the help and use of fluoride, your tooth is more resistant to the acid produced together by the decay-causing bacteria and carbohydrates. Keeping a good and healthy teeth means to put a lot of effort to pull it off. So are you up to the challenge?
