"Your Dream Begins Here!"

CALIFORNIA TROPIC PRELIMINARY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ...

What time will my child go on stage?

Your child's stage time will be approximately 15-45 minutes after their representative CHECK-IN times. We ask that everyone be there by their check-in time, so we don't fall behind schedule. For the most part, the morning age groups will run on schedule.

When do they announce the Winners of each Age Division?

We announce the Age Division and Optional Winners of each group, every two age divisions. For example, the Infant Girls (0-12 months) will compete first, then the next group, Infant Boys (0-12 months) will immediately follow. After they are done, we stop, tabulate all the scores, then announce all the winners in the Infant Girls and crown our Queen, then we do the Infant Boys and crown our King. We continue this format throughout the day; two age divisions, then crown. The next two age divisions, then crown and so on. (On occasion, we will go through three age divisions, then crown, but this is usually only done in the afternoon in the older age groups and only if the groups are small.)

Can I put both my children on one application?

No.  We need an application filled out per child.  This is what the Emcee. reads while your child is on stage.  If you do not have an extra application, feel free to make copies of the one you have, print one off the internet, or use a separate piece of paper and include all of the pertinent information and we will complete it for you.

Can I enter at the door, on the day of the pageant?

Yes.  However, we do not accept checks at the door.  (We will accept cash, credit cards and money orders.)

Does my baby need to wear shoes?

Yes.  Even if they cannot walk, they should have shoes on their little feet to protect them.  ALL the children, regardless of age, should wear something on their feet.

Can I go on stage with my child?

We require a parent or adult to go on stage with your child, up to the age of 3.  At age 4 & up, it is optional.

How many times does my child go on stage to compete?

Each contestant will go on stage twice; once individually, and then after every contestant in that age division has had their turn on stage, we call all the children in that division back up on stage for a group line-up.

When are the optional categories judged; does my child have to go on stage again?

The Summer Queen/King optional, and the Seven mini-optionals (Best Hair, Eyes, Smile, etc) are judged while your child is on stage at the same time as the main competitions (individual and group), by different judges.  Your child does not have to go on stage again to be judged for optionals.

How many winners are there in each age division?

We believe that every child in every age division is a Winner.  We have a system that ensures that every single child will be called back on stage and awarded a trophy or a trophy plaque.  However, the top 5 scoring contestants in each age division is called our "Court" and will be awarded larger trophies.  They are the 3rd Runner-Up, 2nd Runner-Up, 1st Runner-Up, Mini-Queen/King, and the top scoring child in the division will be crowned our Queen/King.  Many times, if the age division is large, we will often have ties, therefore instead of having 5 children in Court, we will have 6, 7 and sometimes 8 children making court.

When will I receive my photos I've ordered from the pageant (Picture Package)?

Photos taken from the pageant will be sent out anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks after the date of the pageant.  (You cannot order photos after the pageant.  The photographer only takes photos of those who have ordered them prior to the child going on stage).  Also, please remind your family and friends that cameras are not allowed into the pageant.  The picture package is offered at a nominal fee and the photos do not have a copyright so you are welcome to make copy's for family and friends.  Video passes are available for purchase on the day of the event for $20.00 which includes 1 Adult admission, plus when you return the pass we will refund you $5.00 dollars!!
